Post-adrenaline chill-out mode. Almost everyone just finished Death Road and is celebrating or nursing bruises. By next morning the place feels half-empty again.

Green, warm, and 2,000 m lower than La Paz. Coroico is a subtropical Yungas village at 1,750 m, the standard endpoint for the Death Road downhill bike ride. Most travelers arrive on two wheels and leave on four the next morning. The town itself is small: a quiet plaza, a few cafe-bars, and pool-deck hostels designed for post-ride recovery. Two days max unless you want slow walking or birdwatching in the surrounding cloud forest.

1-2 days; most leave next morning
Skip if not doing Death Road; the town alone does not justify the bus from La Paz. You can also bike and return same-day without staying overnight.

The standard arrival is the Death Road bike tour endpoint, with operators handling the transport from La Paz and back. Independent travelers take a 3-hour minibus from La Paz's Villa Fatima terminal for 25 to 35 BOB. The road uses parts of the old narrow Yungas route; landslides in heavy rain occasionally close access for hours or days.
Warm year-round at Yungas altitude. Dry season May to October is best for reliable bike-tour weather and lower landslide risk on the access road. Wet season November to March brings frequent storms that can cancel or delay Death Road tours. January and February peak rain are highest-risk weeks.
ATMs are limited; bring cash from La Paz. Wifi is slow. Nights are cooler than the altitude suggests; pack a fleece. Most Death Road packages include the Coroico overnight and the return bus to La Paz next morning; confirm inclusions before paying separately.
Death Road fatalities recur yearly; pick a vetted operator with maintained bikes, full gear, and experienced lead riders (French advisories specifically warn to vet agencies). The old Yungas road in is landslide-prone in rain. Town itself is quiet and low-crime.
